Autonomous Buoy Systems

BUOY SYSTEMS

Autonomous Buoy Technology was invented, developed and patented by Ocean Resource. We evolved the concept for a wide range of offshore applications and after many years of development and marketing eventually got the concept accepted for its first application on the East Spar development off NW Australia where it operated successfully for around 15 years. The technology can be used for pressure boosting, subsea equipment power and support, complete autonomous oil production, EOR, etc. It can dramatically reduce your field development costs making an otherwise uneconomic field highly profitable.


Sea Nova with Associated Storage

SELF INSTALLING
PLATFORMS

Ocean Resource developed Sea Nova as the first steel/concrete hybrid self-installing Minimum Facilities Platform. It has been in successful operation for over 20 years and remains the most cost-effective design in almost all seabed conditions. It has the lowest through-life costs offering infrastructure production costs of around US$ 5 per bbl. In one version it competes directly with an FPSO development at around 40% of the cost. Sea Nova can operate in water depths of 120 metres, with equipment loads in excess of
6000 Te and in a North Sea environment. It can be readily used for sequential developments.

Subsea Storage

SEABED / MIDWATER STORAGE

Ocean Resource has been involved in subsea storage since its involvement in the Beryl A Condeep platform in the mid 70’s. Since that time we have developed fluid storage solutions for both produced fluid and stored chemical fluids subsea for our developed concepts.

Our Buoy Systems have stored a variety of fluids both midwater and at the seabed. We have specifically developed storage solutions for 200,000 bbls and 300,000 bbls storage with both sea water interface and thermoplastic barriers for oil/water separation. Our solutions are 50% of the cost of a conventional steel subsea storage unit.

Sea Sequestor

Ocean Resource developed an interest in CCS and its associated discipline, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) around 2008 when it became obvious that the pressures on sustainable energy were rising considerably whilst the need for low cost energy continued to be a main driver. Ocean believes that the use of hydrocarbons to generate power and sustainability are not necessarily incompatible provided that the emission of carbon is substantially obviated and costs are minimised and revenue streams  maximised.

This section deals with Ocean's solution to the provision of practical low cost sequestration and/or EOR.
