OFFSHORE SURVEILLANCE

Sea Sentinel Data Acquisition and/or Offshore Civil/Military Surveillance

The strategic positioning of unique surveillance buoys (or fixed towers) called Sea Sentinels throughout a specific sea area can solve the problems of economically policing a very large sea area. The buoys are force multipliers providing patrol vessels and shore based stations with continuous visual and radar information over a larger sea area than their own radar horizon. This enables one or more patrol vessels to be used to maximum efficiency obviating unnecessary patrolling of empty sea areas.

The Buoy surveillance system has been used in the United Kingdom for surface vessel identification and tracking in the Southwest Approaches. Sea Sentinel has been positioned on the West Coast of Scotland, where its performance was enhanced to include the ability to detect and identify marine pollution in addition to its existing surveillance capabilities. Sea Sentinel has also been used to acquire subsea data using sensitive hydrophones and associated equipment.  A Sea Sentinel buoy is currently gathering data for an envoronmental monitoring application on the East Coast of the USA.

The Sea Sentinel radar and surveillance buoy was conceived and developed by Ocean Resource and is now a proven design which is deployed throughout the world, performing a variety of functions.

SEA SENTINEL APPLICATIONS

SEA SENTINEL VESSEL DETECTION, IDENTIFICATION AND CONTROL

Sea Sentinel can be fitted with surveillance sensors for the detection and identification of surface and subsurface vessels and/or aircraft. Sensors may include military or civil radar, optical and thermal imaging cameras, AIS, Sonar, etc. Vessel behaviour can be analysed and guard zones used to control vessel activity. Multiple buoys (or fixed structures) can be used in conjunction with one or more patrol vessels to extend their detailed surveillance horizon thus acting as a force multiplier extending area coverage and reducing cost.

Sea Sentinel can be used for fisheries or mineral protection, security and marine policing, asset protection or war fighting for exclusion zone protection either for permanent or temporary mobile applications.

SEA SENTINEL POLLUTION CONTROL/ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Sea Sentinel has been used for pollution monitoring using thermal imaging cameras together with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). Mobile sensors can be used to confirm spillages, leakage or other anomalies identified by this system.

SEA SENTINEL FISHERIES PROTECTION

Sea Sentinel's close detection capability can be used in conjunction with licenced transponders to control fisheries or other licenced activities.
